Postdoctoral research position in seismology at UCL - deadline 30/10/2013 University College London - Department of Earth Sciences Applications are invited for a researcher to work on a multidisciplinary project aimed at elucidating the nature of 3-D seismic attenuation in the Earth's mantle. This project connects global seismic tomography with mantle thermodynamical modelling, involving collaboration between UCL and various universities in the USA. This full-time post is funded by NERC and is available from 1 December 2013 for a period of three years in the first instance. We seek a highly motivated scientist with experience in computational seismic imaging. Candidates will have a PhD, or thesis submitted subject to examination, in quantitative seismology and fulfill all essential elements of the person specification as described in the further particulars. The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £32,375 - £39,132 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
